Gender Equality
I believe both women and men should be treated equally and afforded the same rights to build a strong society. Men already have a tremendous amount of rights that have not been given to women such as the right to vote, equality in relationships, the same educational opportunities, and other rights that would create a more equal society.
In 1792, my book, Vindication on the Rights of Woman, was published, In this piece of literature, I advocate for equality of the sexes, and an important set of beliefs that I hope will continue women’s movement. (“Mary Wollstonecraft, 1759-1797.” History Guide. 2012). There are many people that deeply appreciate my motivation to accomplish gender equality, while others despise my new and innovative ideas. I feel I am able to share my beliefs about why women and men should be treated equally and should have the same rights in society, even though my writing goes against “traditional society” when it comes to equality of the sexes. There are also people who disagree with me and with the idea of gender equality, and my opinions have caused controversy among them. However, I believe my opinions have also opened people’s eyes and new doors for women, igniting a fight for gender equality. Many people started to promote feminism after reading my writing. I am proud I have started a movement to promote women’s rights by boldly sharing my opinions with the world.
Equal education for women will help us contribute more to society, making it a better place where women feel they can be much more involved. I believe that women and men should be treated equally, and that women should gain rights men are already afforded.
